Food Log; Guitar Hero Metallica; Bacon Love

Charlie is doing fine this morning. I was expecting his head to be hurting or swollen but it was fine. It's actually kind of hard to find the staples....but they're there.

Ate a quick breakfast because I had to meet my mom to hand over Rachel for the weekend. Charlie is so disappointed that he can't go but I know that he would go to the fair and bust his head open on some ride. We'll take him to the Kemah Boardwalk when he gets better. OH, and the in laws want to keep him Saturday while we go spend the night in Galveston. Woohoo!

Breakfast: CarbCheck plain bagel with WW cream cheese (3 pts)

My bagel experiment conclusion: the bagels are great for keeping you full. I am not hungry until 1 or 2 when I eat them. I noticed that I don't snack as much when I have them either. As much as I love my morning cereal, I am going to have to be careful because I get the munchies when I have it for breakfast. The oatmeal on its own doesn't do much for me either. But if I mix oatmeal with yogurt and fruit it tends to make me feel full. It's still not as satisfying as those fiber and protein packed bagels though.

Met mom halfway. She lives outside of Beaumont so it's a drive to get there. Gave her Rachel, some WW bars and some bagels. I want her to start eating better and I'm hoping the goody bag will give her a little step in the right direction.

Charlie and I stopped by Starbuck's on the way home. I got a tall (12 oz) light caramel macchiato with an extra shot of espresso (4 pts). I didn't realize you could get a short (8 oz). I didn't see it on the menu. Next time I'll ask for that. I hate wasting 4 points on a drink without alcohol. :) Charlie got the ever-so-delicious vanilla bean frappuccino.

Lunch: flat out wrap with buffalo style turkey, cheese, mustard, lettuce and cucumber (3 pts) and watermelon (1 pt)

After lunch Chuck, Charlie and I went out to get the new Guitar Hero Metallica. I really want the Rock Band set but I can't find anyone that can tell me whether the Rock Band components work with the Guitar Hero World Tour game. Stopped by Sam's to see if it's worth getting a membership. The jewelry counter was very sparkly and dangerous for me. :) I'm just not convinced yet that I need a membership. What is it about Sam's that you think is worth the membership?

When we left Sam's everyone was starting to get the munchies. I pull in to Sonic and order some unhealthy stuff for Chuck and Charlie. I order a banana and a Route 44 Diet Coke with Diet Cherry. The lady says, "Um, we keep the bananas in the cold room so the outside is brown but the inside is still good. Uh, you know what, I'm sorry. No, the inside really isn't good either. Sorry. The bananas are not good." What? Well, ok. There is absolutely nothing on the menu that I want to waste points on. So I was a good girl even though the car smelled of tater tots and chicken strips. Challenge: Win!

On the way home I pick up Subway.
Dinner: steak and cheese sub on 9 grain wheat and FF chips (10 pts)
Mmmmm.....look at all those veggies on that sub.
Rocked hard to Metallica. I LOVE Guitar Hero but I'm not a huge Metallica fan. Sorry, Chuck. Some of it's ok.

In case you are shopping for a special gift for that special someone, why not try Bacon Lube? It's a bacon flavored/scented personal love oil. Good lord, who comes up with this stuff? Chocolate, yes. Strawberry, yes. But bacon?
"Oh, baby. That bacon smell just drives me wild." FAIL

Dessert: Vitatop Peanut Butter Chocolate. (1 pt)

That's it. Nothing too exciting. I'm ready for some regular days though.

Saturday I'm leaving for Galveston and I can't wait! I won't be home until sometime Sunday so no more posts until then. Hope everyone else has a great weekend. :)

Points: 22/24

Activity: No, again

PS: I am going to have a bagel giveaway next week. Stay tuned. :)

  1. Ooh, a bagel giveaway? Yay! I was just going to ask you where you buy your Carb Check bagels.

Kudos to you for not getting anything at Sonic...a few months ago, I was there and came to the same conclusion as you - there really is nothing on their menu for someone who is eating healthy.

As for a Sam's membership - we live about 1/4 mile from one, so it's the closest "grocery" type store. We get our milk, bread (Milton's - good fiber!), fresh fruit and veggies (I've been buying a 32 oz. container of fresh strawberries for $3.87!), meat and chicken (when our kids are here; otherwise it's too much and we tend to forget about things in the freezer), Kashi Golean Crunch cereal, and of course, the mandatory pallet of toilet paper! Plus their gas prices are always the best in our town.

Whew! I didn't mean to write a book here...hope you have a great time in Galveston, and I'm glad to hear that Charlie is doing well!

  2. I'm happy to hear that Charlie was feeling better, but bummed for the little guy he can't be with his sister and grandma to the fair..

It's so wonderful for you to be concerned for your mother's help, and give her positive encouragement..

Enjoy your time with Chuck this weekend!

  3. OH! I'm so excited about the bagel giveaway!

I'm not much of a Metallica girl either. Some of their stuff is great but the rest is blah for me.

I'm a member of Costco, so I can't say much about Sam's. I guess they're pretty much the same thing though. We get pretty good deals on toilet paper, fruits and veggies, and canned/dry items. Buying in bulk is pretty nice.

    Have fun in Galveston!!

  4. Bagel giveaway? That sounds awesome!
And delicious eats overall, totally want some watermelon after seeing it featured. :P

  5. Haha, bacon lube! That is weird. I am cracking up!

I want those bagels, yay! I usually do the western alternative kind, but I wanna try yours too.

Oh, I think the instruments for Rock Band do NOT work for Guitar Hero. Sorry :(

  6. I too have Costco instead of Sam's, but the bulk buying is great for certain items like TP, Paper Towels, Laundry Detergent, Dish Soap, Cleaning Supplies, meats, frozen goods, etc.

  7. I buy gas at Sam's club and that would pretty much make it worth it if we bought nothing else there. But I also buy toilet paper, paper towels, dishwashing detergent, cat food, and other non-perishables. We actually bought a TV there recently as well.

I have a serious starbucks habit so I can tell you that your points will go a lot farther if you get a drink without any sort of syrup and just add splenda. I had a Venti nonfat latte this morning with three splendas and it was only 3 points. Oh and a grande Mocha Light Frappachino is only 2 points. yum.

I love comments. Tell me what's on your mind. :)
