Weigh In Results

Down 3.3 pounds for total of 50.3 pounds lost!! Woohoo! *high five*

But wait, that's not all: I'm now in Onederland for the first time in years. 199.7 to be exact. Yeah, it's barely in Onederland but it's there.

I have now lost more than I have left to lose. I've lost 50.3 pounds and have 49.7 pounds to lose. It's finally downhill.

Since I am not a health expert (I'm actually rather clueless) I take comments and suggestions seriously. Some advice that I have taken lately that I believe has really helped:

  • eat clean. Not so many processed foods, cut back or eliminate diet sodas, be able to read the ingredients on packages. Yes, it makes a big difference. I'm not 100% but better than I was even considering all the birthday fun.
  • strength train to boost metabolism. The EA Sports Active has some basic strength training but yesterday I started with weights. Also the Shred has strength training intervals. I've read in more than one place that weights will really boost the ole metabolism so I'm going to put it to the test
  • don't eat after 9pm. I read this in Master Your Metabolism and I have been following it pretty religiously except for 1 night last week.
  • eat a good breakfast. I'm trying to make breakfast one of my heftiest meals. That way I have the rest of the day to burn off the calories while a big dinner doesn't have as much of a chance to get burned with what's left with the day.
  • Weight Watchers, try Filling Foods (AKA Core). My leader had talked about this at a meeting once and said that it was great for breaking through plateaus. It also happens to work very well with eating clean, whole foods. You don't have to measure or count points. But I'm still trying to keep my portions reasonable.
  • eat 3 main meals and 1 afternoon snack. That's it. Read this in Master Your Metabolism.

  1. Yay Kelly!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so happy for you. You have earned this, and you do know what you are doing! You are so beautiful already, but more importantly so much healthier, right?

I love you list of actions and I know there's a couple on there I need to work on...the strength training and limiting snacks.

    You inspire me.

  4. Great job!

I am trying to eat "cleaner" too, it's definately hard and something I will need to continue working on.

I've definately cut out a lot of the 100 calorie pack type things I used to eat, but I still like my granola bars!

    Keep up the good work!

  14. yay! Congrats. I really need to apply that 9pm rule. I always leave myself some points left over for something sweet at the end of the night, I should prolly try and make that something before 9pm instead of 10:30 PM laying in bed like last night.

I've noticed that I consume a whole heck of a lot of splenda. I'm not really sure how to change that however. I do so love my sweetness and I can't use sugar so I'm not sure what to do. Did that book say anything about stevia?

I wondered where your point values went, Core that makes sense now.

  15. alosingbattle, Stevia is a great sweetener. I also love agave nectar which can be found in many major grocery stores now. I think I even saw it at Target but don't quote me on that. Agave has a relatively low glycemic index soit won't cause such a spike in insulin as some sweeteners can which is definitely not something you want before you go to bed.

I am going to start re-reading Master Your Metabolism and share some interesting stuff. I'm sure there are other great books out there but this is the first one describing how hormones, food and weight loss are interlinked.
