What a Difference a Year Makes: Before and During Pics

I've lost 47 pounds since last summer. My mom had a picture of me that I didn't know existed. If I had seen it I would have ripped it into tiny shreds and burned it then spit on its ashes. But now that I see it....it's one of my favorite pics because it shows how far I've come.

Me: the day after my 37th birthday. Approx 250 pounds.

Me: the day before my 38th birthday. 203 pounds

I can't wait to have an "after" picture instead of a "during." :)

  1. WOW! What a difference a year makes! You look great. I can understand your originally wanting to destroy the before picture (I've been in the same boat) but thank God you didn't and you really look fantastic :) Keep up the great work!

    Sassle!

  17. Holy moly! Between those two photos, it looks like you've lost over 100lbs! The before pic is definitely not a flattering perspective, but it definitely does show how far you have come. Your face really glows now and you look younger as well as healthier! For the next photo, no fair hiding behind the kid, though. ;-)

  18. I'm in a weird mood and I'm going to write what came to mind. I swear, so I hope it's not offensive.

Holy shit. That was what came to mind. You look fantastic! Absolutely fantastic. I might add that even though it wasn't the best pose, you really looked lovely at 250, too. You're very pretty. But the change in the year...WOW.

You are such an inspiration, Kelly.

  20. You look like a completely different person! You also look about 20 years younger! I'd never guess your proper age!!!

I kept a picture from new years that is my "before" picture. I was THIS close to deleting it once I saw it, but decided as much as I hate it, it's my motivation to keep going :)

Youre doing so amazing :) I'm proud of ya!

  25. I am much older and shorter than you. I started WW Jan.1 on-line and have lost 29 lbs to date (this is the umpteenth round of WW).

Only this week have I had anyone, including my husband, mention it "looks like you are losing weight!" A older lady in exercise class did today; a lady at church mentioned it 2 weeks ago.

So I want to add my congratulations to you! It does take a long time and is discouraging when the loss is not noticed.

If you know of older WW blogging, let me know. we have some problems younger dieters don't.

  26. Nitwit, my mom is in her 60s and she just started. I know she has lost 3.5 pounds this week. I'm so glad to see her motivated. She read Finally Thin and it finally got her motivated to make a change. I'm so proud of her. I want to see her healthy. I worry about her.

A book that I have really enjoyed that discusses hormones and how they change as we age and the food we eat making a difference is Master Your Metabolism by Jillian Michaels. It may help with some issues you may have. :)

  27. You look fantastic - I had to say that just in case you didn't get it from the 29 other posters :)

I am trying to do WW on my own. I lost almost 40 lbs on NS but I am so bored with the food and the lack of diversity I'm stuck and unmotivated and unfortunately gained back a few. So ....... I think I need a change and WW is going to be it. With all the success stories on these blogs (you included) I am willing to try.

Wish me luck - I will be back for even more inspiration and suggestions. Keep it up and you will be in Onederland before you know it!

  30. Wow you don't even look like the same person.

I wish that I saw that much change in my pictures... maybe it's just me but I thought I'd see more by now.

Do you ever struggle with that?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Kristine, YES I struggle with that. I actually had a post about that and how down I was after I took my first progress pic. It takes time but you'll reach your goals. Just, whatever you do, don't give up.

  36. lolol, don't you just love how unflattering a photo everyone takes when you are heavy. It could only have been worse had you been squatting. YOu look great right now! If that's 203 lbs, I can't wait to get there. I am sitting at 255 right now. Great Job! Keep up the good work.
