Weekend Fun and Giveaway Heads-Up

Good Saturday evening to all of my friends in bloggerville. I love checking in every day to read your comments and check in on your blogs. It's like having a virtual friendship. :) I may not always get to comment on your blog but I try to check in as much as possible.

Chuck and I try to have a "date" once a month. We take turns planning the dates and this month was his turn. He did great! The only complaint was the bitter cold but since he can't control the weather I can't complain too much.

First, he took me to Babin's in Kemah. He figured the cold would keep the crowds away and it would be nice. He was right! When we arrived there was only one other couple in the entire restaurant. Let me say now before I go any further that I do not count calories, points or anything on date nights. It is one night per month and it is my time with my fella.

So we had spinach and seafood dip. Wine. Then I had broiled ling with lump crabmeat. Then we had beignets with a coffee custard for dessert and cafe maison that had 3 types of liqueur. It was so wonderful and the service was perfect.

After dinner we parked the car closer to the Aquarium restaurant and braved the bitter cold to go to the Stingray Reef. I LOVE feeding the stingrays. I even got to touch a shark. The picture below didn't come out so great. Sorry. The stingrays were so funny. They'd come to the top and beg like puppies. You could hear them make smacking and sucking noises when you gave them the fish. And we had the whole place to ourselves!!

I am very proud to announce that I have completed 1 week of Boot Camp on Spark People! I have exercised every single day. Today was abs and it was pretty tough. For some reason I can not do the side planks at all. I don't know what it is. Hopefully by the end of this boot camp I'll be able to do them.
.
Weekends I only have to do a short strength training exercise. No cardio! Yeah!!! Was it MizFit that said cardio was the brussel sprouts of exercise? I think so. I have to agree. But I did order Just Dance for the Wii and thought it may be a more fun way to get the heart pumping. It received pretty great reviews and the price was right. I'll let you know how I like it after it arrives.
.
I'm really excited to let you know that I am going to have a giveaway announcement on Monday! I like to celebrate and I like for you to get to celebrate with me! I'm celebrating getting in shape and I want to share the joy. Want a hint what the giveaway prize will be? It's something I've posted about recently. It's funny. Works those arms. :)
.
See ya Monday!

  3. Side planks are tough! Do you do them on your elbow or hand? I think the elbow makes it a little easier. On my left side if I try and do it on my hand my arm starts shaking so hard after about 10 seconds I can't hold it!

  4. I am finding an occasional meal off program does not kill my effort. We have a pot-luck dinner almost every Sunday at church. Instead of worrying myself sick, I've learned a heaping tablespoonful of offerings is about all I want anyway, and it satisfies my desire to participate without restraint.

  5. ooooh tell me what you think of Just Dance for Wii!!! I ordered mine, just got it, but am working all weekend, so won't get to try it till next week! P.S. Nice to see that my virtual friend is still around, since I fell off the wagon, blogging, eating, and weight loss!!

  6. What a fun date - the picture of the stingray is cute...I never knew they would beg like that!

I just tried a side plank - it's not bad once I got the balance thing going, and WOW does it make you hold in your core, which is something I'm working on. Thanks for pointing them out - I'm definitely going to do them. You will get them down soon, I have no doubt!
